We visited Armação de Pêra at the end of May 2009 to see how the works for the new water front area were affecting the area and as we said at the time - it was really quite a mess. We are really pleased to report that it is now looking great!
The photo above shows the western end just outside Hotel Garbe - hardly recognisable from just 7 weeks ago. There are some finishing touches to do here and there - but what a difference!
A little further along and still looking good! We can only say that they must have been working flat out to do so much in the time. The cafe and small play area that used to be on the front has now gone and that small area still has to be cobbled - we shall visit again to see if the cafe returns!
This photo shows the last area to be finished - at the eastern end along the back of Fishermen's beach. Judging by the speed the rest of the town has been done, it will no doubt be done very soon.
It was lovely to see the cafes and restaurants with their tables back outside and it has made such a difference. We've added new photos to our gallery - the ones of the beach were taken around 7pm and it was still 31°C - no wonder it was so busy!
