January weather in the Algarve has been quite mixed for the first 2 weeks of the month with some lovely sunny days and blue skies and some days with heavy rain. Other days have just been cloudy or overcast. During the last 4 weeks the downside is that we have had rather more rain than usual for this time of year but the upside is that the reservoirs are nearing capacity so there will be plenty of water during the summer.

Some sun in the morning but mainly cloudy in the afternoon. Started to rain later in the evening

It poured with rain through the night then cleared to give some sunshine to start the day before heavy and persistant rain showers again in the afternoon. The rainbow was one of several throughout the day!

A mix today! We had a sunny morning before it clouded over for a couple of hours, then the sun came back for the rest of the afternoon.
January 6th 2010:

The best part of the day was the early morning before the rain came! Some of the showers were quite heavy but there were also dry spells particularly later in the day.

A lovely day with just a few clouds. The temperature dropped quite dramatically today and felt quite chilly out of the sun. Overnight the thermometer went down to 4°C.

We had heavy rain overnight and during the morning but the afternoon gave us a few sunny spells with just some light showers. Felt a lot warmer than yesterday.

A dry and sunny day and definitely feeling warmer! Some clouds were gathering by late afternoon.

Both days were grey and wet but very mild - even overnight the temperature only dropped a couple of degrees.
