Well - what can I say? This May really is not at all typical of normal May weather for the Algarve. Yes, it's been really quite warm and fine for the usual summer gear of t-shirt and shorts most of the time (one particularly blustery morning on the cliffs definitely required a jacket!), but we've had a lot more rain and cloudy days than is usual for the time of year. Today is fairly typical of the past couple of weeks - there are some dark clouds, particularly over the Monchique hills but also some sunshine, it's very warm (24°C at 2.30pm) and although it's looked like rain a few times it hasn't. Mostly the showers that we've had have been overnight although one day about a week ago there was some torrential rain.
Today is a bank holiday and the town is really busy with people enjoying the day off - the tables outside the cafes and restaurants are as full as ever.
