Apologies for not updating the weather - the problem has been the sun - lots of it! Then I thought - what can I say -"It's sunny again"..."the beaches are full"...."I want to go for a swim"! Do you really want to hear that?! So here is an abbreviated version of the last couple of months from our newsletters:
"What a lovely month May has been! Now we wouldn't like you to think it's been perfect - it did rain on the afternoon of May 23rd for a couple of hours! The 'worst' comments we could see looking back in the diary otherwise were "a bit hazy to start today" and "windy but very warm - 20°C at 7am". The Algarve, being on the Atlantic coast, does normally have a gentle breeze, particularly in the afternoons, so although the air temperatures have been around 27/28°C it has still been a comfortable heat for walking around. In the full glare of the sun the temperatures are, of course, several degrees higher which has taken it to the low 30's
June has certainly been hot, but luckily the Algarve sea breeze has helped to cool things down a 'little'. We've had a day here and there when it's been a little overcast and on Monday this week we started the day with a little bit of drizzle - or was it a heavy sea-mist? Anyway, it had gone again within an hour! The temperatures in the sunshine have been in the mid to high 30's all month and the thermometer did tip 40°c a couple of times! The sea has also been lovely...we've ventured in off Meia Praia (Lagos) several times to escape the heat and it has been fantastic!"
OK ..so here we are half way through July and..guess what... nothing has changed - the sun is still shining and the beaches are getting busier by the day! I'll get back to you no time soon - unless the weather changes!
