Summer Events in the Algarve 2010

The Algarve has a huge variety of events planned for Summer 2010! As well as the many events co-ordinated by the local councils across the Algarve, the Algarve tourist board is organising the special Allgarve Summer Events Programme, ensuring that Summer 2010 in the Algarve is going to be brilliant! As details of concerts, sports events, festivals and beach parties are announced we will add the information here as well as to the individual events calendars on the resort guides.

• WRC Vodafone Portugal Rally 27th to 30th May based at the Algarve Stadium, Faro
• Fiesa 2010 at Pêra May 22nd to October 22nd . This will be the 8th International Sand Sculpture Festival to be held at Pêra and the theme will be "Living World". The sculptures are formed from 35,000 tons of sand and displayed over an area of 15,000 square meters. It is open from 10am to midnight with free sand sculpture activities for all ages 10am to 1pm and 4pm to 9pm. At night the sculptures are illuminated along with a varied programme of entertainment.
• International Show Jumping 11th to 13th June: Belmont Riding Centre, Portimão and 18th to 20th June at Vilamoura Riding Centre 
• Lagoa Jazz18th to 20th June at Sítio das Fontes, Lagoa. Performance on the 18th by Michel Portal & Yaron Herman (saxophonist/clarinetist & jazz pianist)
• Festival Med in Loulé June 23rd to 26th. This is the seventh edition of Festival Med - one of the most highly regarded festivals of world music. The historic centre of Loulé will come alive with a whole variety of music - soul, jazz, flamenco, afro-blues, fado, bossa nova and hip hop. In previous years more than 20,000 people have visited the city throughout the five days of the festival and this year's promises to be even better! Apart from the five stages for the musicians there will be displays of arts and crafts, street theatre and different foods to try.

• Portimão Portugal Match Cup (sailing) 23rd June to 3rd July: Portimão Marina
• Grupo Puja! 1st July:- street theatre high wire trapeze act in Largo do Carmo, Tavira
• FIA World Touring Car Championship  2nd to 4th July at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Portimão
• Gabriella Cilmi 3rd July: The young australian singer will be performing at Alcoutim River Quay
• Opera nights in Silves Castle 10th & 11th July A fantastic setting for Opera and tickets are just 20€ !
• La Salamandre street theatre group 15th July at the Roman Bridge and Praça da República, Tavira
• Algarve Internacional Motorbike Meet 15th to 18th July in Faro. Always a hugely popular event attracting bikers from far and wide.
• Natalie Cole in concert 16th July at the Real Marina Hotel & Spa, Olhão
• Le Mans Series 2010 16th to 18th July at the Autódromo do Algarve, Portimão
• Compagnie des Quidams 17th July a spectacular street theatre show in Carvoeiro
• Kurt Elling 17th July at Jardim da Verbena, São Brás de Alportel
• Al-Buhera Festival 21st to 25th July in Albufeira
• Diana Krall in concert 24th July at the Monumento Eng.º Duarte Pacheco, Loulé
• Benfica v Sunderland 27th July at 21.15 at the Municipal Stadium in Albufeira
• Guia Chicken Festival 30th July to 1st August from 19.00 each evening in Guia (near Albufeira)
• McCoy Tynner in concert 31st July at the Cerca do Convento, Loulé
• Matt Bianco in concert 3rd August at Grande Real Santa Eulália Resort & Hotel Spa, Albufeira
• Amália Hoje 4th August Amália was known as the queen of Fado and her songs have been given a modern twist by a group of portugueuse musicians on the album "Amália Hoje". Fabrica Balsense, Tavira
• Festival Sons Atlântico 5th to 7th August at Senhora da Rocha (between Armação de Pêra and Carvoeiro). Tinariwen, a band of Tuareg musicians from the Sahara Desert region of northern Mali, who have gained international popularity performing at festivals world wide, are performing on the 5th. Other artists to be announced.
• Colbie Caillat in concert 7th August at the Monumento Eng.º Duarte Pacheco, Loulé
• Silves Medieval Festival 7th to 15th August. Silves provides the perfect setting for this festival - a must do event!
• Madrugada Circus 9th & 10th August with artists of more than 40 different nationalites performing in Praça dos Pescadores, Albufeira
• Allgarve Gourmet, Shellfish Festival Olhão: August 10th to 15th . This is one of the biggest gastronomy events in the Algarve - it's not just seafood, but music and entertainment until the early hours!
• Camané in concert 14th August on the river front in Vila Real de Santo António at 22.00.
• Portimão Sardine Festival: August (dates to be announced). Portimão Sardine Festival is a major event with live music every night and fireworks to end the evenings and, of course, the chance to enjoy the sardines!
• Nouvelle Vague in concert 12th August at the Oceânico Victoria Golf Resort - Vilamoura
• Sarruga street theatre 13th August - Quarteira waterfront
• Anastacia in concert 17th August at CS Herdade dos Salgados, Albufeira
• FATACIL: 20th to 29th August in Lagoa at the Fairs and Exhibitions Park. This huge fair is about all the Algarve has to offer - tourism, crafts, agriculture, commerce and industry. There is also lots of entertainment every day with a concert every night and of course, no fair would be complete without food! Regional gastronomy for everyone to try.
• Ana Moura (fado singer) in concert 21st August in Vale do Lobo 
• Jamie Cullum in concert 22nd August at Balaia Golf Village, Albufeira
• Castro Marim Medieval Days 26th to 29th August. Castro Marim will transform into a medieval stage, recreating various experiences from life in the Middle Ages, including tournaments, traditional games, street entertainment, medieval crafts and other traditional shows. History brought to life.
• Noite Branca do Algarve 28th August in Loulé. The night that everything and everyone in Loulé turns white! Don't miss the party!
• La Fura Dels Baus street theatre spectacular 29th August in Praca Infante D.Henrique, Lagos
• Cataplana Experience 1st to 5th September at Vilamoura Marina
• Les Farfadais street theatre/acrobatic troup 4th September in Praça Marquês de Pombal, Vila Real de Santo António
• Jean-Luc Ponty & His Band 4th September at Silves Castle
• Aziza Mustafa Zadeh in concert 10th September. The Azerbaijani singer, pianist and composer performs at the Municipal Auditorium Olhão
• Archie Shepp Quartet 12th September at the Municipal Auditorium, Albufeira
• FIA GT2/GT3 European championships 17th to 19th September at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Portimão
• Portugal Masters Golf Tournament: October 14th to 17th at Oceânico Victoria Golf Club, Vilamoura.
• Algarve Historic Festival (Formula 1)  15th to 17th October at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Portimão
• Jane Monheit in concert 30th October at Vilamoura Casino
