With so many Tavira restaurants and bars to choose from, where will you pick for your long awaited holiday?
Well for starters, the riverfront overlooking the Gilão River is a must! From there the neighbouring restaurants, bars and cafes around the square offer a traditional yet ecletic mix, with plenty of outside dining on the terraces to soak up the beautiful Algarve rays!
There is every type of cuisine to enjoy in Tavira, with the cobbled streets offering many a good find! Traditional Portuguese food is a given (as is the cheap quaffable wine and beer) and then there’s a choice of so many international restaurants like Chinese, Indian, Italian, Thai and Mediterranean, with plenty of choice for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free living.
Cafe life is a way of life in Tavira, like the rest of the Algarve, so “Uma Bica” expresso or a “Galão” milky coffee with a delicious “Pastel da nata” (a sticky sweet egg custard tarte) or another traditional cake or pastry is the best way to start the day!
To get the most out of your stay we recommend checking Tavira Restaurants on TripAdvisor to see other diner’s reviews and check opening hours as some may close for holidays out of season. If you set your heart on somewhere book it, especially during peak season and for the popular restaurants as they’ll be busy. If you’re staying in self-catering accommodation and fancy a takeaway, there are dedicated takeaway restaurants but most restaurants will also provide a take-out service if you pop in and ask.
