What to expect
The municipal complex in Quinta da Palmeira has a 25-metre swimming pool alongside learning and recreation pools. A separate upstairs gym provides weights and cardio training. Independent swimming and gym use are both part of the municipal programme, so a swimming lesson is not the only way to use the building.
First-time users need to register at reception with identification and complete the required declaration. The same user card serves the pool and gym, but their balances are loaded separately. Bring the correct swimwear, swimming cap and poolside slippers for the water; gym users need clean sports shoes and a towel. August is the usual annual closure period. Reception can distinguish a first registration from a top-up for an existing card.
