Near the beach frontage

Consider a front-row or near-frontage property when beach time is the main purpose of the trip. Check the actual entrance and route to the sand; a sea view can come from a room whose access is less direct than expected. Ask where you can unload if arriving by car or transfer.

Think about the room as well as the location. A balcony can be useful, but sleeping arrangements and cooling may matter more to the whole group. If you are sensitive to noise, ask about nearby evening venues and which direction the bedroom faces before choosing solely for the view.

A little farther into the resort

An inland street can still support a beach-led stay if the walking route is convenient. Put the property address on the map and trace the journey with the bags you expect to carry. A small saving may be worthwhile, but only if you are happy to repeat the walk several times a day.

For an apartment holiday, include food shopping and meal preparation in that comparison. A useful kitchen layout, a separate bedroom and somewhere to keep beach equipment can make a longer stay easier. Ask what is actually provided rather than assuming every self-catering listing has the same practical facilities.

For a stay without a car

CP's regional timetable includes Monte Gordo. If you plan rail outings, compare the station route from the room as a separate journey from the beach walk. Being in a railway-served resort does not establish that every property is beside the platform or convenient with luggage.

A car-free holiday works best when the ordinary day is easy on foot and the occasional excursion has a clear plan. Choose the return journey for a town visit before leaving. If you will need a taxi for early departures or station transfers, include that cost when comparing accommodation options.

Choose for your dates

A summer family stay may depend on cooling and suitable outdoor space; a cooler-season break may depend more on a comfortable interior. Ask about any seasonal facilities you intend to use. A swimming pool on a listing is only useful if its conditions and availability suit your travel dates.

Read the total price, cancellation terms and check-in method together. If anyone has mobility requirements, ask about the actual entrance, lift, room and bathroom route, then assess the walk outside too. Pick a property that supports the holiday rhythm you want rather than one chosen for an amenity you may never use.
