For family fun, there are boat trips going from the riverfront in Portimão, the lovely Zoo Lagos is only 30 minutes away to the west and water parks and the Zoomarine theme park are between Lagoa and Guia to the east (between 15 and 25 minutes away). For a real treat for the teenagers, there’s the “Kartódromo” go-kart track at the Autódromo race track at Mexilhoeira Grande, Portimão.
