Start with your arrival point

For a Faro flight, allow for baggage collection and the connection out of the airport before choosing an onward departure. Faro Airport’s transport information lists the available public-transport links. Identify where the service takes you and whether you still need to reach Faro railway station or a coach stop. An itinerary beginning at Faro station is not an airport-to-hotel journey, even when the destination is correctly shown as Lagos.

Use the Algarve railway to Lagos

CP’s Algarve timetable connects Lagos with the regional rail network through stations including Portimão, Tunes and Faro. Read the timetable in the direction you will travel and allow enough space for changes where applicable. The useful advantage at Lagos is the station’s location behind the marina. If your accommodation is near the old town, the pedestrian bridge provides a connection across the waterfront; other areas may still need a local journey.

Compare coaches and a direct road transfer

A coach can be worth comparing for a longer journey, especially when coming from Lisbon. Use the operator’s actual stop names and travel dates when building the route. For a direct airport transfer, provide the full accommodation address and agree the pickup process, luggage capacity and arrangements for children. A shared transfer may have a very different journey pattern from a vehicle taking only your party to one address.

Drive if the wider coast is part of your plan

A hire car becomes more useful when Lagos is one base for exploring several western beaches and inland places. Decide whether you need it throughout the stay or only for a few outings. Arrange parking with your accommodation before arrival in the historic centre. For the road journey, use the actual destination address and an up-to-date route rather than relying on a broad town-centre marker or an old description of toll arrangements.

Finish the plan at the accommodation door

Before travelling, save the property address, arrival instructions and the last part of the route. Meia Praia and Porto de Mós require different onward decisions from the station, despite sharing the Lagos name. A late arrival may make a prearranged vehicle more practical than a sequence of public connections. On departure day, build the airport journey backwards from the required check-in time, including the first local leg and any change between services.
