Choose town or beach first
The old town and the coast around the headland offer different everyday holidays. A central base makes evening walks straightforward; a beach-side area may reduce the journey to the sand. Compare your normal day rather than relying on a broad Lagos label.
Give the coast its own time
Meia Praia, Dona Ana and Porto de Mós offer separate settings for a beach day. Choose one main beach and keep another outing for Ponta da Piedade. Camilo’s beach access is restricted because of instability around the staircase, so do not plan a descent to its sand while the closure remains.
Connect with the rest of the Algarve
Lagos is the western terminus of the regional railway. That is useful for arrival and selected town excursions, while A Onda local buses support journeys within the wider Lagos area. Scattered west-coast beaches need a different transport plan from an outing to a town on the rail line.
