About the course
Pinhal is one of Vilamoura’s established tree-lined golf courses. Frank Pennink designed the 18-hole layout, with later refinements by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Pine trees remain central to its identity, influencing both the view and the available shot shapes. The operator describes elevation changes as well as strategic fairways, so a round is about finding the right line through the parkland rather than simply keeping clear of a single large water feature.
The dedicated official course page offers direct bookings and a hole-by-hole guide that helps visiting golfers understand the layout before travelling. Pinhal is distinct from the Old Course, despite both having mature pines and a Pennink connection. It is also separate from Laguna and Millennium within the same operator’s current portfolio. Reserve the course by name and supply the required handicap details. Golf dress requirements and possible grouping into four-player flights apply through the wider Vilamoura Golf operation. A Vilamoura or Quarteira base allows this wooded round to be contrasted with nearby, more open courses over the same holiday.
