Odiáxere, Lagos · Palmares Ocean Living & Golf / DETAILS
Palmares is a 27-hole course above Meia Praia, Lagos Bay and the Alvor estuary. Its Alvor, Lagos and Praia loops combine hillside parkland, lakes and coastal dunes. The three nines belong to one course, with different 18-hole combinations offering variety across a longer golf holiday.
The Penina Academy Course is a separate nine-hole short course on the estate inland from Alvor. It is temporarily closed, with no reopening date announced. Penina’s Championship and Resort courses provide different playing options, while the teaching academy has its own driving range, putting, chipping and bunker-practice facilities.
Penina’s Resort Course provides nine physical holes on the same estate as the Championship Course. Players can also book an 18-hole format using the same nine twice. The operator does not require a handicap for this course, making it a different proposition from Penina’s championship layout.
Penina’s main course is the 18-hole Sir Henry Cotton Championship layout, inland from Alvor. Streams, ditches, water hazards and raised greens give it a distinct strategic character. It is separate from the resort’s shorter nine-hole course, and published handicap requirements apply to championship-course play.
Pine Cliffs is a nine-hole course above the coast at Açoteias, east of Albufeira. Pine trees and the clifftop landscape shape Martin Hawtree’s design, with a ravine carry at the sixth hole providing its best-known feature. Visitor green fees are published separately from hotel-guest playing rates.
The Amendoeira Academy Course is a nine-hole pitch-and-putt layout between the Faldo and O’Connor Jnr. courses. Floodlighting and different teeing options make it a distinct short-golf proposition. It offers beginners and established players a smaller playing format, with tuition and other practice facilities available through the resort golf academy.
The Faldo Course is one of Amendoeira’s two distinct 18-hole layouts, inland from Armação de Pêra at Alcantarilha. Its higher, rocky terrain calls for careful shot placement. A shared resort clubhouse, practice facilities and a separate short Academy Course allow golfers to plan several different sessions from the same base.
Amendoeira’s O’Connor Jnr. Course follows the fertile valley below the resort’s Faldo layout. Lakes, watercourses and large contoured greens make accuracy central to its 18-hole round. It is a separate course sharing Amendoeira’s golf base, useful for varying a multi-round holiday near Alcantarilha and Armação de Pêra.

Gramacho is an 18-hole Pestana course near Estômbar, between the Carvoeiro and Ferragudo holiday areas. Ronald Fream and Nick Price designed its routing around existing terrain, trees and rocky features. Alternative greens are part of the design, so references to 27 greens should not be mistaken for a 27-hole course.
Vale da Pinta is an 18-hole Ronald Fream course in the Lagoa golf area, near Carvoeiro and Ferragudo. Olive, carob and almond trees frame a routing with doglegs and strategically placed hazards. It is a separate course from neighbouring Gramacho, even though both use Pestana’s wider booking and resort infrastructure.

The operator explicitly welcomes non-hotel guests, with golf-only bookings, equipment hire, practice areas and tuition available through the club.
Laranjal is Quinta do Lago’s separate 18-hole course in the Ludo Valley, east of the main resort golf base. Former orange-grove land, rolling fairways and lakes shape the par 72 layout. Its own clubhouse and practice facilities make arrival planning important: a Laranjal reservation is not an arrival at the North and South clubhouse.
Vila Sol is a 27-hole Donald Steel course in Morgadinhos, near Quarteira and Vilamoura. Its Prime, Challenge and Prestige nines offer different 18-hole combinations through pine woodland, lakes and bunkers. It can be combined with time in historic Silves without choosing a coastal resort as your base.
The Ocean Course at Vale do Lobo combines two original Sir Henry Cotton nine-hole layouts into one 18-hole round. Its later holes move towards the coast, including a par 3 alongside the beach. It is a separate choice from the Royal Course, with public visitor reservations through the same Vale do Lobo golf operation.

Millennium is an 18-hole Vilamoura course with a mixture of tree-lined holes, more open fairways and water features. It sits within the current Vilamoura Golf portfolio alongside Laguna, Pinhal and the Old Course. A dedicated operator guide and booking route make it straightforward to select as its own round.
Pinhal is a pine-lined 18-hole parkland course in Vilamoura. Frank Pennink’s design, later refined by Robert Trent Jones Sr., uses trees and changing levels to shape the round. It belongs to the current Vilamoura Golf portfolio and offers a more enclosed woodland setting than the area’s open, water-focused layouts.
Quinta do Vale’s Academy is a separate nine-hole pitch-and-putt course for short-game practice near Castro Marim. Its use changes with the golf season: the operator says the layout becomes teaching areas during peak periods. A nine-hole playing session therefore needs specific confirmation rather than being assumed available throughout the year.
Quinta do Vale is an 18-hole Severiano Ballesteros course overlooking the Guadiana landscape near Castro Marim. Its balanced mix of six par 3 s, six par 4 s and six par 5 s creates a distinctive card.
