A walk through the streets behind the seafront gives a different impression from the beach alone. This is particularly worthwhile at the start of the holiday. A convenient food shop or a comfortable route home can improve every subsequent day more than one additional attraction.
Choose a contrasting day in Lagos
Lagos offers a historic centre, museums and the Ponta da Piedade headland as a change from Luz’s beach-centred setting. Choose either a town day or a coastal outing so the visit has a clear focus. Public transport and an arranged lift are alternatives to hiring a car for the whole stay. If you prefer walking, choose a researched route and a realistic return rather than assuming any line along the coast is an easy promenade.
