About the course
The North Course is one of Quinta do Lago’s three separate 18-hole courses. Beau Welling and Paul McGinley redesigned the layout in 2014, including greens, tees, bunkering and paths. Four sets of tees provide different ways to approach the same holes, while undulating putting surfaces and water hazards make position important. The lower-cut ground around greens also introduces choices for recovery shots. Golfers should select tees for their own game rather than compare the course only by its longest listed distance.
The operator offers direct golf reservations, with practice areas, a clubhouse and rental equipment listed among the supporting services. A booking should name the North Course: the South Course is a separate round, while Laranjal has a different golf location in the Ludo Valley. Quinta do Lago requires an official handicap certificate unless playing with one of its teaching professionals, making tuition a possible route for players who are still learning. A golf holiday based in Quinta do Lago or Almancil can compare these layouts without treating the whole resort as a single interchangeable course.
