About the course
The Royal Course is one of Vale do Lobo’s two distinct 18-hole golf courses. Its most recognisable hole is the par 3 sixteenth, where the line to the green crosses the coastal cliffs. The ninth green, almost surrounded by water, adds a different kind of target earlier in the round. These features make the Royal a course for golfers who want memorable approach decisions within a coastal resort setting, while still choosing tees that suit their confidence and ability.
Vale do Lobo explicitly welcomes visitors as well as members and guests, with direct tee-time booking through the golf operation. A reservation should name Royal rather than simply Vale do Lobo, since the Ocean Course follows a different layout. The club requires handicap certificates and publishes limits and clothing rules. For a holiday based around Almancil, Quinta do Lago or Vale do Lobo itself, the two courses can be compared as separate days of golf. The famous cliff hole is part of the playing course; it should not be treated as a public coastal viewpoint with unrestricted spectator access.
