About the course
Quinta do Lago’s South Course was designed by William Mitchell and has a long Portuguese Open history. Its 18 holes run through umbrella pines, lakes and parkland overlooking the Ria Formosa landscape. Doglegs and strategically positioned hazards give accurate tee shots a clear purpose: a sensible angle can make the next shot more manageable. The course’s tournament association does not mean visitors must play from the longest tees, and players should choose the setup that matches their game.
The official golf service provides direct reservations, with club, buggy and trolley hire, practice facilities and a clubhouse among the listed services. North and South share a wider golf base, but remain separate course bookings. Laranjal is a third distinct course at another location in the Ludo Valley. An official handicap certificate is normally required, and Quinta do Lago publishes golf clothing rules. Visitors learning the game can ask about playing with a teaching professional instead of assuming that a resort hotel booking grants unrestricted course access. Confirm the specific round and any equipment requirements when making the reservation.
