What to expect
Pousada Convento de Tavira occupies the former Convento da Graça, a single historic complex near Tavira’s castle hill. The cloister and convent architecture are part of the hotel setting, while rooms, an outdoor pool, a bar and Mouraria restaurant support a full hotel stay in the old town.
The complex also preserves an archaeological nucleus from the earlier Islamic neighbourhood uncovered during its conversion. This heritage role does not make the whole hotel an unrestricted monument: the municipal museum specifies advance reservation through the hotel for archaeological visits. Hotel accommodation, dining and heritage visits should therefore be arranged for their distinct purposes.
