Espiche Golf

Espiche Golf occupies rolling countryside outside Lagos, inland from Praia da Luz. Its 18-hole layout keeps native planting close to the playing corridors, so choosing a sensible line matters. The clubhouse, practice facilities and tuition make it a useful standalone golf stop for a western Algarve holiday.

About the course

Espiche Golf lies inland from the coast at Sítio dos Matos Brancos, outside the village of Espiche. Peter Sauerman designed the 18-hole, par 72 course around undulating ground and retained native vegetation. That setting gives it a different feel from an urban resort course: the surrounding countryside and planted edges remain prominent throughout the round. Golfers based in Lagos or Praia da Luz can consider it as a nearby countryside option without moving their holiday base to a golf resort.

The operator provides a driving range, putting green and short-game area, along with tuition and equipment hire. These are useful if only some members of a party play regularly, although instruction and a course booking should be arranged separately. Its published fact sheet sets handicap requirements and a golf dress code, so this is a conventional golf club rather than casual pitch-and-putt. The clubhouse includes Gecko Restaurant, giving the day a natural meeting point for players and companions. Reserve through the operator and plan transport to the actual golf entrance.
