About the course
Palmares lies on the eastern side of Lagos, above Meia Praia and the Alvor estuary. Robert Trent Jones Jr designed its present 27-hole layout as three connected nine-hole loops. Alvor uses higher, tree-lined parkland; Lagos combines parkland and lakes before reaching dune scenery; Praia follows the lower coastal landscape. These names describe parts of one golf course, so booking a different combination changes the round without taking you to a separate resort. That is particularly useful when planning several golf days from the same base.
The operator offers direct tee-time reservations and stay-and-play options, with a clubhouse positioned between the bay and the estuary. Practice and coaching belong to the golf academy rather than an additional publicly listed course. When arranging a round, ask which two nines are included if a particular coastal or hillside section is important to you. Allow for exposure to the sea breeze on the lower holes and select a tee set for your ability. Lagos provides the main nearby town base; the Alvor loop name does not mean arrival is in Alvor village.
