Golfe Santo António

Santo António is an 18-hole course in the hills at Budens, close to Salema in the western Algarve. Formerly known as Parque da Floresta, its valley setting and changing elevations offer a countryside round within reach of Vila do Bispo, Burgau and Lagos.

About the course

Santo António sits at Vale do Poço beside Budens, with Salema and the western Algarve beaches nearby. The 18-hole course was designed by Pepe Gancedo and uses the folds of the valley rather than a flat coastal strip. Changes in elevation are therefore part of its character. It makes sense for golfers staying around Vila do Bispo, Burgau or Salema who want to keep their golf day in this part of the region. The former Parque da Floresta name still appears in older guidebooks and booking searches.

The golf operation is part of Santo António Resorts, which also offers holiday accommodation. A round and a villa stay are different bookings: visitors should use the golf team to arrange play and discuss equipment or tuition. The national tourism listing identifies a driving range, putting and chipping areas, and an academy, making it possible to plan a practice session alongside the main course. For a mixed holiday group, Salema provides a separate seaside outing; companions should arrange their own activity rather than assume course access.
