What to expect
The church’s religious story is rooted in the community’s maritime life. The Diocese records the tradition of the patron’s image being found in fishing nets, a tradition reflected in the celebrations which link the churches, streets and harbour.
This church is distinct from São Pedro do Mar, the town’s later parish building. It is a useful stop while exploring older Quarteira rather than the marina quarter of Vilamoura, and remains part of local worship rather than a museum of fishing history.
Planning your visit
- Nossa Senhora da Conceição and São Pedro do Mar are separate Quarteira churches.
- Respect worship and any local access notices.
