Praia da Quinta do Lago

A memorable wooden footbridge leads across the lagoon to wide Atlantic sands.

A day at Praia da Quinta do Lago.

The approach is part of the pleasure at Quinta do Lago beach. A long wooden bridge crosses a branch of the Ria Formosa before the route reaches the sand, giving the outing a view of tidal water and marshland as well as the ocean. The beach is separated from the resort by this protected lagoon landscape.

It is a good choice when you would enjoy a walk on the way to the beach, but allow for that walk in both directions. The bridge is a pedestrian connection, not a road to a beachside car park. A light bag, sun protection and a clear meeting point on the mainland make the return more straightforward.

Parking & arrival

The municipal beach car park is on Avenida André Jordan near roundabout 7, before the footbridge. Loulé Concelho Global publishes seasonal parking charges and lists electric-vehicle charging at this car park.

The route to the sand

Follow signs through Quinta do Lago to the beach, then cross the wooden footbridge and continue on the designated dune route. The national tourism board describes the bridge as approximately 320 metres long.

Accessibility

VisitPortugal lists an accessible beach. Include the length of the bridge and the sand crossing in your plans; being able to reach the bridge does not by itself provide assistance into the sea.

Facilities at the beach

  • Showers
  • Beach bars
  • Restaurants
  • Sunshade hire

Beach support is centred on the concession area beyond the bridge. Bring what you need for the walk instead of expecting shops along the crossing.

The water & lifeguards

Stay away from tidal channels on the lagoon side and use the signed ocean bathing area. Follow the lifeguard flags rather than judging the water from the bridge.

Lifeguard supervision is seasonal and applies to the signed bathing area. Follow the flags and instructions displayed at that beach.
