What to expect

The chapel is linked with the local Santa Casa da Misericórdia and the religious and social work of that institution. Its surviving architectural and sacred decorative elements give it a different identity from the larger parish church nearby.

Include it in a walk through the historic centre, especially if you are already exploring the churches and older streets. Its compact scale makes it a short heritage stop; interior entry depends on the building’s local use and visitor arrangements.

Planning your visit

  • This chapel is a separate site from the Igreja Matriz and São Sebastião.
  • Do not assume continuous interior opening.
