What to expect

The chapel’s origins predate the sixteenth century, although later rebuilding has changed the structure. Its dedication and position near the old harbour area reflect the devotion of local fishermen and the town’s long dependence on the sea.

This is a separate stop on the Orada and marina side of Albufeira, rather than one of the churches clustered in the old town. It is most rewarding when understood alongside that maritime setting and the continuing role of the chapel as a place of devotion.

Planning your visit

  • Orada is on the marina side of town, outside the main old-town church cluster.
  • Religious use takes priority over sightseeing.
