What to expect
Known locally as the Igreja Pequena, the Soledade church has a simpler, more rural character than the nearby parish church. Its history reaches back to the seventeenth-century settlement, and the modest exterior is part of its interest.
This is a building to discover within a slow walk through central Olhão. If you encounter a private religious or funeral occasion, enjoy the architecture from outside and move on; a heritage listing does not make every church a continuously open museum.
