Capela de Santa Teresa e São João de Deus

The chapel at Caldas de Monchique brings tiled religious art into the leafy setting of the thermal village.

What to expect

Dedicated to Santa Teresa and São João de Deus, the chapel contains tile panels telling episodes connected with both saints. Its small scale and sheltered spa-village setting make it a very different stop from Monchique’s main parish church.

The Algarve literary-route guide notes that the chapel is rarely open. Plan primarily for an exterior stop during a walk around Caldas, treating a permitted interior look as an extra rather than building the day around guaranteed access.
