A day at Praia dos Salgados.
Salgados marks a change in Albufeira’s coast: the small limestone coves give way to a broad strand backed by dunes. The lagoon behind the beach adds a rewarding birdwatching and walking dimension to the outing. Keep beach time and a lagoon walk distinct enough to carry the right footwear and water.
This is an appealing choice for people who value an open horizon and room to walk. The beach-service area offers a more convenient base than setting off immediately along the entire bay. Use the established access through the resort and dune edge, leaving vegetation and nesting habitat undisturbed.
Parking & arrival
Outdoor parking is listed. The municipality describes the road through the golf-resort area, reached from Vale de Parra, with an avenue descending towards the beach. Use signed spaces.
The route to the sand
Road access comes from the EM526 and Vale de Parra through the resort area. Follow the formal pedestrian route across the dune edge to the sand.
Accessibility
VisitPortugal lists Salgados as accessible. Use the signed equipped entrance; loose sand and paths beside the lagoon are separate accessibility considerations.
Facilities at the beach
- Showers
- Beach bar
- Restaurant
- Sunshade hire
- Small-craft hire
Beach concessions and equipment hire are seasonal. The village or resort has a wider choice than the sand itself.
The water & lifeguards
The open strand can have surf and currents. Bathe only where the flags and lifeguard indicate, and keep away from the lagoon outlet.
Lifeguard cover is seasonal, not year-round. Use the staffed bathing area and follow the flags displayed on the day.
