What to expect
The chapel is associated with the popular devotion to São Sebastião as a protector against epidemics. It was damaged in the earthquake of 1755 and rebuilt, while a seventeenth-century image of the saint forms part of its religious heritage.
It is a different building from São Sebastião church in Albufeira’s old town. Use the Guia location when planning a visit, pairing the chapel with the village’s parish church and the older Nossa Senhora da Guia chapel rather than making a separate coastal detour.
