What to expect
The São Sebastião chapel is particularly interesting for the relationship between architecture and painted decoration. Its baroque interior brings painted surfaces, religious figures and illusionistic effects together within a small space.
This is a municipal heritage stop with its own visiting arrangements, rather than a church whose opening can be inferred from parish services. It also belongs to Tavira’s church-concert setting, so an event visit and a daytime heritage visit may be quite different experiences.
