Igreja do Divino Espírito Santo, Pêra

Pêra’s parish church rewards an inland village stop with narrative tiles, Baroque altarpieces and carved choir stalls.

Rua Vasco da Gama, Pêra

What to expect

The Diocese highlights the church’s tiles and carved decoration, including altarpieces in the main and side chapels and sacristy. These features give the interior more depth than its village setting might suggest.

Pêra is a separate inland settlement from Armação de Pêra on the coast. Pair the church with a village walk rather than treating it as the seafront parish church, and leave time to look at the different decorative details if the interior is open for visitors.

Planning your visit

  • Pêra village and coastal Armação de Pêra are different places.
