What to expect

The church known as Nossa Senhora das Ondas is also dedicated to São Pedro Gonçalves Telmo. Its connection with seafaring communities gives this small building a particularly fitting place in a town shaped by the river and sea.

The painted ceiling is a reason to step inside during the municipal visiting period. Combine it with the streets just back from the river, allowing time to look up as well as at the altars rather than treating the church as another quick façade photograph.
