What to expect
This church developed from a late-seventeenth-century foundation and was enlarged over subsequent generations. Inside, the extensive tile work is the principal reason to linger: patterned surfaces and narrative panels bring another dimension to a Faro church walk.
The former convent buildings have a different modern use, so distinguish the church visit from the adjoining complex. The setting near the old walls makes it a good companion to a walk through the Arco do Repouso side of Faro.
