What to expect
The earlier church had a Gothic arrangement of three naves. Earthquake damage and later reconstruction changed that layout into the single-nave building seen today; the interior’s carved altar and Baroque decoration belong to this layered history.
Treat the church as part of a walk through Salir rather than assuming a dedicated indoor attraction. It is one of the landmarks of this inland village, giving travellers based around Loulé or Alte a reason to look beyond the coastal resort strip.
Planning your visit
- The official heritage inventory does not publish routine interior visiting access.
- Plan an exterior stop in Salir and respect any worship taking place.
