A day at Praia de Armação de Pêra.
Armação de Pêra’s main beach is directly beside the resort, with an old fishing quarter at the eastern end. The section called Pescadores recalls the settlement’s fishing life. Unlike the enclosed Lagoa coves, this is a place where a beach day can be combined with a promenade stroll and a broad choice of meals.
The long waterfront gives you several possible meeting points. Pick a specific beach entrance before arranging a lift or leaving belongings with another part of your group. It is a good option when easy access to the town matters more than seclusion, and for holidays where a short walk to lunch is part of the appeal.
Parking & arrival
VisitPortugal lists outdoor parking. Use signed resort parking and walk to the chosen entrance; spaces on the seafront cannot be assumed to be available.
The route to the sand
The sand is reached from the town waterfront through designated pedestrian entrances. Keep the fishing and boat-handling areas clear.
Accessibility
VisitPortugal lists an accessible beach. Choose the signed accessible entrance; the presence of town paving does not make every route across loose sand accessible.
Facilities at the beach
- Beach bar
- Restaurant
- Sunshade hire
- Small-craft hire
Beach concessions and equipment hire are seasonal. The village or resort has a wider choice than the sand itself.
The water & lifeguards
Follow the bathing flags and stay away from boat handling corridors. Avoid the Alcantarilha stream outlet when choosing where to enter the sea.
Lifeguard cover is seasonal, not year-round. Use the staffed bathing area and follow the flags displayed on the day.
