What to expect

Founded through the patronage of Diogo Gonçalves, the college was begun in the seventeenth century and its church inaugurated in the early eighteenth century. The large central church rises above the lower wings of the former college, making the composition easy to appreciate from the square.

The wider college complex later acquired civic uses, so this listing concerns the church rather than access to every part of the building. It pairs well with Portimão’s Matriz and a walk through the old town before heading down to the river.
