A day at Praia Verde.
Praia Verde is a beach in Castro Marim municipality, reached through the coastal settlement of the same name. The approach gives a view across the wide eastern Algarve shore before you reach the sand. Behind the beach are dunes and pine trees, which make the setting feel different from Monte Gordo’s resort frontage.
There are two beach approaches, so decide which restaurant, support area or meeting point you want before leaving the car. A long sandy walk is part of the appeal, but the facilities remain around the formal entrances. Keep to the boardwalks through the protected dunes instead of cutting directly across their vegetation.
Parking & arrival
Castro Marim Council lists two parking areas serving the two beach accesses. Reserved accessible parking is identified near Pézinhos na Areia; use the signed bays and do not obstruct the approach roads.
The route to the sand
Follow the Praia Verde beach signs, then use the designated walkways from the developed approach to the sand. The council describes two accesses linked along the beach frontage.
Accessibility
The council lists adapted toilets, designated parking and an amphibious chair through the relevant beach concession. Assisted bathing is a staffed service to arrange, not equipment assumed available at any hour.
Facilities at the beach
- Restaurants
- Beach bars
- Toilets
- Accessible toilet facilities
- Sunshade hire
Beach facilities are concentrated at the supported entrances. The accessible provision is associated with specific concessions rather than every point on the shore.
The water & lifeguards
Use the signed bathing zone and its flags. Keep clear of water-sport launch areas and remember that wide sand and shallow-looking water do not remove the possibility of currents.
Lifeguard supervision is seasonal and applies to the signed bathing area. Follow the flags and instructions displayed at that beach.
